Bandsaws are great for making fast cuts in a wide variety of materials including hard & soft wood, processed timbers, plastics & metals. They enable cutting irregular or curved shapes as well as fast and effective ripping of large materials into smaller pieces.
There's very minimal risk of kickback when using metal bandsaws as the blade teeth pull downwards towards the table. However, these are still dangerous machines and recommend that you keep your hands away from the blade by holding the material with a guide/push stick.
Bandsaws are best for large, fast low-accuracy cuts. for precision cutting on smaller materials, we recommend you hire a chop saw or table saw instead. This is because under pressure, the blade can bend/wander slightly.
After heavy use, the blades can dull. A symptom of dull bandsaw blades is when the speed of the cut slows, and the material can heat up. When cutting wood, a dull bandsaw blade might even burn the wood slightly.
Bandsaws can cut a curve, albeit not at a tight angle. For really tight cuts, a jigsaw may be more suitable.
Blade thickness is 0.9mm
