West Ham United, London Stadium

Project details

City Hire supplied a variety of tools and equipment to support construction works and the London Stadium just a few weeks after West Ham were crowned European Champions.

Our London West Distribution Centre was in an ideal location to support this project, with this particular depot being less than 10 miles away from the London Stadium.

We had three clients on site at the London Stadium, all of which hired our core items which meant that they would have benefited from our same-day or pre-10am next-day delivery service due to our service area and brand promise. Our conveniently located East London depot meant that we could supply a fast and frictionless hire experience for all.

Circular saws, cutting stations, air compressors and pressure washers were amongst the most commonly hired items throughout the duration of these construction works.

Site boxes, sack trucks and generators were also hired to enable our clients to streamline their site operations.

History

Today, the London Stadium is a multi-purpose outdoor stadium at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in the Stratford district of London.

In 2008, construction work began to build a stadium to host the 2012 Olympic Games. The venue was called the Olympic Stadium and hosted 80,000 people each day during the Olympics and Paralympics.

In March 2013, West Ham United FC were granted a 99 year tenacy and the Olympic Stadium was redeveloped into a UEFA Category 4 venue which holds around 66,000 people. This capacity was increased in 2022.
